Where am I? Where to grab lunch?

This is a talk about past, present and the future of adding location-awareness to GNOME. Our users expect features like finding their current location, searching for places and routes and automatic adjustment of date and time to work out of the box in GNOME just like they do on other modern systems.

We’ve seen many attempts in the past to make GNOME location-aware – GeoClue, libchamplain, and Emerillon.  None of these seemed to have caught on.  There has been exciting developments with Maps and geocode-glib that has sparked a renewed sense of interest in GNOME.  In this talk, we’ll explain our plans to help you find lunch in GNOME!
